Join us Friday night to hear the Momentum Quartet. Momentum is a versatile jazz group. Fun antics of band leader, Mikel, as he goes out into the crowd playing sax, keep the crowd amused. The joy of Gregg’s enthusiastic piano interpretations, Sylvia’s solid bass support, and Mark’s skilled finesse on the drums, all add up to Momentum’s fine playing.
A typical night would open with our interpretations of beloved standards, including any of the following: All of You, But Beautiful, Ceora, Corcovado, Daahoud, Dear Old Stockholm, Harlem Nocturne, I Hear a Rhapsody, It Could Happen to You, Killer Joe, Nefertiti, Round Midnight, There Will Never Be Another You, Skylark, or Wave. Then, when it is time to relax and get funky, Momentum might typically play anything from In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Opus de Funk, or Red Clay to Cold Duck Time, or Chameleon. The night may also include several beautiful and well crafted originals, such as Mikel’s Day Sail, or Gregg’s While the Master Slept.
Saturday night, Seattle band, The Groove Messengers will play a variety of tunes from jazz to rhythm & blues and almost everything in between The Groove Messengers have something for everyone, a great song list, great grooves and stellar performances. When you need a band to get people up on the dance floor, the Groove Messengers fit the bill!
