Happy May everyone! We’re kicking off the month with a lively Saturday in Third Place Commons. Hope you can join us.
The first Saturday of the month is our Art-In. Come make art at this free, drop-in creative time for drawing and painting artists – bring your friends and/or make new ones! There’s no instructor, just plenty of community art-making. BYO art supplies/all levels of experience welcome! *No oil paints/solvents, please!* Look for the plastic-covered tables in the Commons.
At 1 pm, get you shimmy on with a spring Belly Dance Hafla. Celebrate the season with this ancient art, and see a variety of traditional and modern styles performed by local dancers.
Then, at 4:30 pm, students from the Washington School of Dance take the stage. Enjoy a sampling of Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Modern, and Classical Ballet performed by dancers ranging in age between 7 to 21 years. Washington School of Dance Performance Companies promotes and recognizes young dancers with performance opportunities while instilling self-expression, confidence, esteem, and professionalism.
