Meet Plenty authors Alisa Smith and James MacKinnon at the Lake Forest Park Farmers Market, Sunday, July 20, 3 pm.Sidhu Farms will bring lettuce, raspberries, rhubarb, broccoli and their sweet, plump blueberries. Stop by Sua Yang Farm for basil, green onions, lettuce, rhubarb and mint. Plenty of fruit at Tiny‘s Organic, including Giant Summit and Sunfire nectarines, Flavorosa pluots, Snow-kist peaches, there could be Rainier cherries, but they‘re almost gone.
21 Acres/Growing Washington has beautiful beets: sweet Goldens, candy-striped chioggia and earthy Red Ace, plus Sugar Snap peas and their snappy salad mixes. Look for potatoes at Twin Rivers Farm, they have Red Chieftans, Katahdin, Yukon Gold and English Almond potatoes. Liven things up with their Deep Purple spuds! Dwayne also has English cucumbers and Sweet Cluster tomatoes.
Plenty of berries from Youngquist Farm and Hayton Farm. Raspberries are new this week. Welcome back, Martin Family Orchards, from Cashmere/Orondo. They return to our Market this week.
Visit Garden Treasures and get fresh ginger, baby bok choy, leeks and d'Avignon radishes, those slender French beauties that start out red and fade to white at the ends. Full Circle has beets, collards and chard, as well as Lacinato (aka “dinosaur”) kale and green kale. They‘ve got lots of salad greens like escarole, red leaf and romaine lettuces. You‘ll also find savoy, red and green cabbages there. Colorful fish tacos, anyone? (Nobody seems to know how Dinosaur kale got its nickname; we just hope it inspires children to try a helping.)
At Family Pepper and Produce, get your yellow, green and Mexican zucchini, stringbeans, cucumbers, green tomatoes, cherries, apricots and Super Chili Peppers (Capsicum annuum). The chilis are a toasty 40,000 – 50,000 Scoville units (Habaneros are in the 300,000 range, poblanos are 1,000 to 2,000 units). Want to know more? Visit www.ushotstuff.com/Heat.Scale.htm.
If you are looking for okra, Bautista Farms has it. They also have eggplant and chickpeas, the dried plants hanging from their canopy. The peas just pop out of their husks and make a nice snack. Look there for carrots, Italian garlic, Walla Walla Sweets, summer squashes and (can it be?) candy sweet corn!
ACMA Orchards will have cherries, cukes, cabbage, Bing and Rainier cherries. Watch (out?) for Flaming Fury nectarines, this week or next.
Yeng Garden will bring dill and carrots with their flowers this week.

Get the freshest oysters and clams from Quilcene Bay, brought to our Market by Quil Bay Quality Seafood. Keep their shellfish in the sturdy mesh bags while they cook. They bring a little ridgepole week that usually contains a teeny sand crab or two. It‘s fun to watch little kids watching the crabs.
Laura at Frawg & Turtle tells us that theirs is the official BBQ sauce of the Everett Aquasox! Blue Cottage Jam just cooked up a batch of Marionberry Jam, try a sample of their Apricot/Raspberry Jam, too. Paula‘s Pepper Jelly will be gone this week, back next.
Need a marinade? Soup? An interesting spread to bring along to a dinner party? Robert‘s Bistro Style products are made by a chef from recipes he served to happy diners in his restaurant. Robert rhymes with Colbert (Steven) in case you were wondering.
